Six ways to Practice Mindfulness
1. Breathing Exercises- spend a few minutes each day focusing on your breathing. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold for a moment and exhales slowly through your mouth. This will help to refocus you in the present. 2. Mindful Eating- pay attention to the colors, aromas, flavors and textures of your food. Chew slowly and truly focus on tasting each bite. This will enhance your eating experience and help to promote gratitude. 3. Get Outdoors and Take a Walk (In a Park or Nature if able)- immerse yourself in the surroundings, taking time to notice the colors, sounds, and scents around you. 4. Meditation- set time aside daily to practice either guided or focused meditation. Focus on your thoughts without judgement, allowing them to be recognized and then pass by like clouds. 5. Gratitude Journaling- write down three things you are grateful for each day. This practice will shift your focus from what is lacking to what there is to appreciate in your daily life. 6. Mindful Movement- engage in activities like yoga or tai chi, which both combine movement with breath awareness. This will help to connect your body and mind while promoting relaxation. |
